How are you using your SPF?

Are you even using a SPF?

Well, beautiful babes, it’s 2019 and the studies don’t lie:

  • It is estimated that 192,310 new cases of melanoma (skin cancer) will be diagnosed in the U.S. by the end of 2019.

  • Invasive melanoma is projected to be the fifth most common cancer for both men (57,220 cases) and women (39,260 cases) in 2019.

  • Nearly 20 Americans die from melanoma every day. In 2019, it is estimated that 7,230 deaths will be attributed to melanoma.

  • UVB rays will usually burn the superficial layers of your skin. It plays a key role in the development of skin cancer.

  • The intensity of UVB rays vary by season, location and time of day, with 10AM to 4PM being the peak hours. Sunburned skin doesn't just feel awful, it can cause permanent damage over time.

  • Unprotected exposure can lead to premature skin aging and wrinkling (photoaging), and suppression of the immune system.

  • Blue light (also known as high energy visible light, or HEV) is the strong light that emits from the screens on cell phones, computers, tablets, and TVs, as well as from fluorescent and LED lighting.

  • The sun also emits blue light, so you’re exposed to it when you’re outside, too.

  • Blue light can reach deeper into our skin than UVA and UVB rays, causing damage all along the way.

Now that we’ve hit you hard with the facts, let us help prevent any of this horrific damage from happening to you.

  1. Use SPF every day!

Yes, 365 days a year you need to protect your skin. Unless you live in a basement, with no windows, and never leave…you’re getting damaging UV exposure at some point throughout your day (UV rays coming in through your car windows, blue light damage from your phone and computer screen, or how about those evening ball practices for your kids?). Get the point?

  2. Protect from ALL forms of UV rays.

The blue light we previously mentioned is coming at us from every direction nowadays. We can’t seem to escape the sun, our phones, and our computer screens, so be smart and use SPF protection.

  3. Implementing SPF into your daily routine can be simple.

There’s no need to slather on a full body coating of sunscreen if you’re just going to be sitting in the office all day, but you do need to incorporate a UV protection into your skincare routine.

We love our Coola Sun Silk Drops and Sun Silk Creme for daily use on our face, neck, and chest. It’s an easy way to get the protection you need without feeling cakey or greasy.

  4. If you are going to be out in the sun, be smart.

With sooooo many options to choose from, you really have no excuse not to use your SPF. Give any of our Coola lotions or sprays a try when spending all weekend at ball games, out on the beach for fall break, or finishing up your end of summer gardening. You can’t go wrong with some extra UV protection.

Plus, all Coola products are safe to use on a Clarity spray tan or at-home tanning product with no fading ingredients. Bonus!
